Julian Boutin


Singled out at the age of twelve by the famous violinist Tibor Varga, Julian Boutin went on to study under Varga at the Académie des Archets in Sion, Switzerland.
A graduate in violin and viola at the Conservatoire de Lyon, he founded, with his sister Noémi, cellist, and his brother Florestan, pianist, the Boutin Trio (Roque d’Anthéron, Orangerie de Sceaux, Flâneries de Reims, Prix Maurice Ravel, France Musique radio emissions…). On viola, he has played alongside musicians such as Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Bruno Pasquier, Noël Lee, and Roland Pidoux. He created along with Anne Bitran Histoire du Soldat (“A Soldier’s Story”) then Lubie (more than 150 performances each). From 2002 to 2005, he collaborated with the EOC (Contemporary Orchestral Ensemble), and joined the Cairn Ensemble in 2008. Since 2008, Julian Boutin is the Artistic Director of Les Nuits d’Eté (www.festivallesnuitsdete.fr) Festival in Savoie, France.
